It is advisable to travel charter as scheduled flights normally go via the US and take longer.

Upon arrival at Puerto Plata Airport if you hold a British passport you need to buy a tourist card costing 10 American Dollars in order to enter the Domican Republic.
Upon departure you pay 20 American Dollars exit tax. British passport holders must have 6 months validity before expiry.
Please ensure that you have the correct money available to hand over to the official.
If you do not hold a British passport please check requirements for entry and exit prior to departure from the UK.
Flights are normally cheaper booked out of school holidays if you are able to travel then.Fares are more expensive during UK Summer months.If you are a single traveller and want to take a chance you might be lucky enough to pick up a last minute bargain. No guarantees of course.
